Neville Parnham is hoping he will have a big say in the outcome of the $120,000 Listed Amelia Park-Bunbury Stakes on Wednesday.
Chasing his first win in the 1400m sprint, Parnham has a potent team in place with Ellicazoom and Wrinkly leading his charge.
Ellicazoom is a quality mare who looks primed second-up, but Parnham won’t rule out Wrinkly running a prominent race.
The on speed galloper is racing in rare form and has only missed a top three placing just once in nine starts this campaign.
He enters the race full of confidence after leading throughout to defeat Proceedwithcaution (1500m) by 1 ¼ lengths at Ascot.
Parnham says Ellicazoom will appreciate a step up in distance after a fast closing third to The Celt on March 10.
She was winding up and doing her best work late from the back of the field, but found the 1200m journey too sharp.
Parnham believes Ellicazoom is on track to win her first race since last November’s Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m).
“She has never been a 1200 metre horse, but she found the line good,” Parnham said on Tabradio’s The Sports Daily.
“I thought her effort was pretty good and she is ready to go to a 1400m in a race that she drops weight.
“She has a touch of quality about her and I think she gets her best chance to win a race in over a year.”
Ellicazoom, to start from barrier three with the scratching of Zuccheros, will ridden by Steven Parnham.
She is on the 54kg minimum, a drop of 3kg on her last-start.
Wrinkly, with Pat Carbery aboard, carries 58kg. They combine from barrier one.
Parnham says Ellicazoom has the edge over Wrinkly.
“They are both really good horses for the stable,” Parnham said.
“Wrinkly is a good honest horse who is ultra-consistent and never lets you down.
“He has probably had his best preparation ever.
“He should run well again, but he has to give Ellicazoom 4kg.
“Ability wise he is not as good as her.”
Ellicazoom has firmed from $5.50 into $4.80 with Tabtouch. After opening at $6.50 Wrinkly has eased to $7.
Oliver’s Travels holds $4.60 favouritism.
