Licensed trainers are advised that the AGM for the WA Racing Trainers Association (WARTA) is to be held in December 2020 at date and time yet to be confirmed. In keeping with intention that the association engages as many trainers as is possible the AGM in 2020 will be held in the Larkhill area at a venue yet to be confirmed.
Four (4) positions on the committee for a two year term are declared vacant. Retiring committee president Trevor Andrews is not seeking re-election. Retiring members eligible for re-election are Donna Riordan, Sharon Miller & Julie Clements. All office bearer positions declared vacant.
WARTA as one the five eligible bodies recognised under the RWWA Act (2003) has an active role via the Thoroughbred Racing Consultative Group (TRCG) in lobbying RWWA and government on behalf of Western Australian thoroughbred trainers, liaising with RWWA management and race clubs regarding programming, facilities, insurances and most factors impacting training in Western Australia.
As a direct result of negotiated funding from RWWA, membership of the association is guaranteed to all licenced thoroughbred trainers on an annual basis. The association’s constitution also provides for full or associated committee members from regional training centres and most committee meetings are open to all trainers by request.
As part of the 2020/21 Annual General Meeting, members will be asked to consider minor amendments to the rules to bring them in line with the requirements of the ‘Associations and Charities Branch’, Consumer Protection. A copy of the association’s rules are available to all members on request.
