Co trainer Ben Pearce has big plans for Angelic Ruler who continued her winning ways in the Salinger Plate (1300m) at Belmont on Saturday.
Pearce, who trains in partnership with his brother Dan, said the Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) and Champion Fillies Stakes in November, are in Angelic Ruler’s sights.
“I think they could be options, but we just have to see how she pulls up,” Pearce said.
“She is still learning and putting it all together.
“She looks to be smart and is doing a great job.”
Angelic Ruler was sent out a $5.50 chance and had her supporters after producing a similar performance to win a mid-week maiden at Belmont on July 4.
Yesterday, with Alan Kennedy aboard, Angelic Ruler finished powerfully from seventh position and scored by one length.
Kelly’s Callisto, who led and held a big margin until the final 50 metres, held on for second.
Market leader The Velvet King hit the line strongly for third after hanging in in the straight.
Meanwhile Kalgoorlie trainer Craig Wright has not ruled out Swift Sis tackling the Hannans Handicap (1400m) on her home track in September after she survived a protest from runner-up Max Almighty.
Swift Sis, starting at $17.90, charged home from near last and held out Max Almighty to score by a half-length in the Grant Thornton Handicap (1200m).
Stewards dismissed jockey Pat Carbery’s objection alleging interference from Swift Sis at the 375m.
Wright said carrying 54kg was the key for Swift Sis after she lumped big weight at her recent starts in Kalgoorlie.
“She is only tiny and the 54kg made the difference,” Wright said.
