A selection of racing media and handicappers voted on the Australian Racehorse of the Year Awards, which recognise performances on Australian racetracks and overseas efforts by Australian-trained horses last season.

The top five vote-getters in each category became the finalists for the awards, which will be presented at a ceremony at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 8.
