Boom apprentice Lucy Warwick has shot to an early lead in the Touchstone Farm Rising Stars Series after a riding double at Northam
The 16-year-old scored on Western Gem and Need A Lift who flashed home to take out the $50,000 Gannons Ladies Day Cup (1300m).
Warwick’s race-to-race double boosted her tally to 29 points but right on her heels and six points adrift is Jordan Tuner.
Turner, son of senior jockey, Troy, enjoyed a milestone weekend when he celebrated his best victory on Escape Velocity.
Escape Velocity, prepared by Kylie Craig, defeated Boneshaker and Court Crusader in the $20,000 Leonora Cup (1600m).
Icing on the cake for Turner was his first victory at Northam when he steered Butterfly Kiss for his mentor, Colin Webster.
