Disco Delivers For Discorsi

Disco Metal notched the first win for Yarradale Stud sire Discorsi in the Northam Race Club Maiden (1100m) on Thursday.

Prepared by Aquanita trainer Simon Miller, the debutante settled back in the field and then scooted along the rails to score by a length from front-runner Leica Hussy and her stablemate Conseated.

Disco Metal (3f Discorsi – Mystery Metal by Metal Storm) dispelled Miller’s pre-race reservations with a professional performance in the Avon Valley.  “She had several trials and drew a nice alley,” he said.  “But handling race day experience is generally not a given first time.”

The winner is a homebred for Sunspeed breeder Stan Quinlivan whose purple and white colours have been saluting Perth judges for 40 years.  His first Group 1 was with 1981 WATC Derby winner Vortilla (Zvornik).

Quinlivan has kept faith with Disco Metal’s family for generations.  Her dam Mystery Metal was unraced and her second-dam Nameless (Is It True) retired a maiden after 20 starts.

Third-dam So Seldom Seen (Century) was a winning half-sister to Heytesbury Stud stars Hold That Smile and Carry A Smile.

Discorsi (Galileo) won the LR Gibson-Carmichael Stakes at Flemington and he is a half-brother to Group 1 winning mare Sea Siren and Champion Sunspeed sire Oratorio.

Yarradale stands Discorsi for a $3,500 (plus gst) service fee.
