Lark Hill trainer David Harrison is undecided on which interstate path to take with his courageous mare Sheidel.
The explosive sprinter booked a trip to Melbourne after a career-defining win in the Listed Summer Scorcher (1000m) at Ascot on Saturday.
The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor looked beaten half way down the straight but revealed her fighting qualities with a tenacious victory.
Harrison said he had the options of two programs for Sheidel but would consult owner, Des De Largie, before making his commitment.
“I will have to talk to Des and see whether we map out a program towards later in September and races like the Moir or McEwen at Moonee Valley,” Harrison said on TABradio.
“They look a couple of nice races and the McEwen is about three weeks before the Moir, or we might have a good crack at the Oakleigh Plate and the Lightning.
“It’s debatable what we want to do but you have to seriously look at something like that with the weight she is now going to get over here.
“I don’t believe the travel will worry her and you would think around a tight track like Moonee Valley she would be very competitive.
“You always something you dream about and if you have a horse good enough you may as well have a crack at it.”
Sheidel claimed her third consecutive feature win this campaign after proving too good in the Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) and Listed Crawford Stakes (1000m).
She boasts a record of 11 wins from 15 starts and is approaching half-a-million dollars in prizemoney, but Harrison said the Summer Scorcher was her bravest performance
“I was really proud of her and it was probably her most courageous win,” Harrison said.
“She dug deep when it was needed and is obviously a very good horse.
“She just reached for the line and didn’t want anything to go past her.”
The Group 1 AJ Moir Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 McEwen Stakes, named in honour of Moonee Valley Racing Club secretary, Ian McEwen, are run in September.
Queensland champion and dual Winterbottom Stakes hero, Buffering, won the 2015 edition of the Moir Stakes on September 25.
The Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) are held at Caulfield and Flemington respectively in February.
