BEAUFINE STAKES OVERVIEW
Feature racing continues at Belmont Park on Saturday with the $100,000 Listed Beaufine Stakes, run over 1000m.
The race was first held in 1979 where Nilotic, ridden by Gerry Donnelly, was the first home in the field of 15 starters ahead of Saba Minx and Gypsy Princess.
Vern Brockman holds the Beaufine Stakes record with four wins:
Great Nation (2005-2006), Lady Wild (2001) & I’m On Clover (1982).
Neville Parnham sits one behind Brockman with three victories:
Irish Pride (2003), Real Magic (1992) & Bovader (1990).
Len Morton shared the 1989 Beaufine Stakes with son and current trainer, Dan, who rode Dark Beau. Len won again with Bradson (1997).
Chris Gangemi, David Harrison, George Daly and Keith Jeffreys are also dual winners of the Beaufine Stakes.
Hall Of Fame hoop Paul Harvey and Paul Dyson share the Beaufine Stakes riding record.
Harvey booted home Vizard (2008), Great Nation (2006), Willoughby (1999) & Bradson (1997).
Dyson won on The Profiteer (1998), Eveready (1987), Bosanquet (1986) & Loan Board (1984).
Alana Williams is the sole female rider to win the Beaufine Stakes. She guided home Lady Wild (2001).
