August 1 is traditionally the day horses celebrate their birthdays and to mark the occasion Perth Racing will parade current and former champions at Belmont Park on Saturday.
Headlining a star-studded cast is triple Interdominion hero Im Themightyquinn who has won 58 races from 111 starts and earned $4, 567, 456 in prizemoney.
The Gary Hall Snr-trained superstar has recently returned from a brilliant Brisbane campaign that included Group 1 success in the Blacks A Fake (2680m) at Albion Park.
Im Themightyquinn will be joined by retired thoroughbreds Scenic Blast, Scenic Shot, El Presidente, Grand Nirvana, King Saul and Frenchman.
Scenic Blast won the King’s Stand Stakes in England and was crowned Australia Horse of the Year and Australian Champion Sprinter in 2009.
Stakes victories accounted for 12 of Scenic Shot’s 17 wins from 74 starts.
He won the 2009 Brisbane Cup, 2008 Hollindale Stakes and dead-heated in the 2006 Cox Stakes. King Saul, who retired in May, enjoyed an outstanding three-year-old season with wins in the Belgravia Stakes (1200m) and WA Guineas (1600m).
El Presidente celebrated a short but brilliant career and scaled his greatest height when he stormed home to claim the 2007 Railway Stakes (1600m) for trainer Bruce Watkins.
Grand Nirvana retired with $1,137,775 in stake earnings after the Strickland Stakes in June and remarkably competed at black-type level at all of his 51 starts.
Scenic Blast, King Saul and Frenchman are star recruits for Off The Track, a retirement home for thoroughbred and standardbreds.
Horses will be paraded in special race day rugs and patrons will be able to get up close to take photographs of their equine heroes.
