Rageese won the Group III Chatham Stakes over 1400m last time out at Flemington on November 3 and is nominated for Saturday’s $1 million Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot but trainer Darren Weir said the entire will not be running.

“He had a foot abscess and was a touch lame on Saturday and after treatment he was sound on Sunday morning,” Weir said.

“It is disappointing but these things happen in racing.

“He’s booked to come home on Tuesday night and we’ll see what we do from there. He could go to the paddock or we might possibly look a race like the Villiers in Sydney.”

Weir’s sole Perth summer carnival representative will be Stratum Star in the Group I Kingston Town Classic (1800m) on December 3 with Damian Lane booked to ride.
