Emerging young rider Clint Johnston-Porter is the Western Australian Racing Trainers’ Association’s (WARTA) Apprentice of the Month.

The 17-year-old was a worthy recipient after celebrating his first Saturday metropolitan success on Mystic Prince at Belmont in August.

Johnston-Porter had Mystic Prince, prepared by his host trainer, Adam Durrant and raced by prominent owner, Bob Peters, in a prominent position throughout.

In a tight contest with little separating the first three placegetters, Johnston-Porter and Mystic Prince combined to defeat Woodsville and Zarantz.

Johnston Porter is also drawing attention and making big inroads in Kalgoorlie where he is challenging for the Leading Jockey title.

Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s Riding Master and former top jockey, John Claite, said Johnston Porter was showing positive signs.

“Clint has showed promise over the winter riding winners at Belmont and country tracks across the state.” said Claite.

“With his 3kg claim in the metropolitan area I am sure his services will be much sought after by all trainers.”
