Apprentice Jordan Turner has won the Western Australian Racing Trainers’ Association and Bio-John monthly encouragement award for July.

Turner, son of experienced jockey, Troy, commenced his apprenticeship in June when he rode Need A Lift for Paige Kenney at Northam.

Turner led on the Passenger mare before she faded to finish fourth and 2 ¼ lengths astern of Ultimate Success.

His next ride at the meeting was aboard Meryl Hayley’s L’Rondine who ran on to finish third behind Black Queen.

The teenager’s maiden victory arrived six days later when he piloted home School Rumble for Robert Beattie in Roebourne.

He has since recoded a further two victories at Port Hedland and at Marble Bar during their cup meeting last weekend.

As of July 10 Turner has ridden in 40 races for three wins, seven seconds and five third placings for a winning strike of 8 percent.
