Trainer Michael Grantham is confident Luvnwar can continue her winning ways in Saturday’s Amelia Park-Belmont Guineas (1600m) at Belmont Park.

The filly brings a different form line to Saturday’s Listed feature, having gone to a 1400m Graduation Handicap on Raconteur Stakes day.

Luvnwar wore down Wonder Weapon and I Dreamed A Dream in the closing stages of the event to score a narrow win on that occasion.

That followed an encouraging Australian debut last month over 1200m.

Grantham said there had been plenty of encouraging signs since the last start win.

“She’s done well,” Grantham told TABradio.

“She’s done everything right at the feed bin, which is always pleasing as a trainer.

“She’s a tall and light-framed sort of filly but there’s still a lot of improvement in her off that.”

The War Decree filly drew kindly in barrier four of 17 for the $125,000 event, with her main rivals Brave Spirit, Petrouchka and The Boss Lady drawn outside her in eight, nine and 16 respectively.

Brave Spirit was a stylish winner of the Raconteur Stakes earlier this month, with The Boss Lady and fellow Belmont Guineas runner Sapphire Street filing the minor placings.

The Belmont Guineas also feature multiple Listed race winner Russian To The Bar.

Brave Spirit sits at the top of the TABtouch market at $3.60, with The Boss Lady ($5), Luvnwar ($8) and Petrouchka ($8.50) the other runners in single figures.

Grantham indicated he would make a decision after the Belmont Guineas as to whether Luvnwar pressed on to next month’s Listed Belmont Oaks (2000m).
