A total of $1.1 million in prizemoney was provided to industry participants at Saturday’s Magic Millions WA Ladies Raceday at Pinjarra Park, with boosted bonuses provided to Westspeed Platinum runners.
Any Westspeed Platinum horse that placed first, second or third at the race meeting received additional bonuses of $25K, $5K and $2.5K respectively.
The race meeting also featured the launch of the inaugural Magic Millions WA Women’s Bonus, which provided an additional $75K to the first three all-female owned or leased horses home in the 2YO Classic.
Total prizemoney for the race meeting included:
- $840K in stakes
- $75K Magic Millions 2YO Women’s Bonus
- $35K normal Westspeed Bonuses
- $200K additional Westspeed Bonuses
Last year, Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) announced that it would be increasing its investment into its Westspeed and Westspeed Platinum incentive schemes, with the program expected to deliver more than $12 million to owners and breeders annually by 2022/23.
The current crop of yearlings at the upcoming Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales, will be the first horses to benefit from the enhancements to Westspeed Platinum from August 2019, including:
- All Owner Bonuses in races under $50K being doubled
- Owner Bonuses extended to 2nd and 3rd for races $25K+
- 4YOs to receive more bonuses (50% bonus on all races under 1,750m) in addition to 100% for 1750m+
- $2K Magic Millions Yearling Sale credit for breeders on races $50K+
