Alan Mathews was left speechless after Cool Trade extended her unbeaten campaign at Belmont on Saturday.

“What can you say about her, she is just exciting,” said Matthews.

“She is a very nice filly but at some stage I will have to sit down and map out where we want to go with her.

“She might have one final run in a higher rating race before going for a spell.”

Cool Trade made light work of her top weight of 60kg and the anticipated battle with Bjorn To Love to make it four consecutive wins in the Westspeed Sprint (1200m).

Cool Trade was camped behind Saint Bro but once she angled off the fence for jockey Pat Carbery she dashed past the leader and drew away to score by 1 ¼ lengths.

Saint Bro was upstaged for the second time against the winner with outsider Sir Dandy running on for third at his first appearance since February.

Second elect and impressive last-start winner Bjorn To Love settled back but failed to make any impression in the chase home, finishing ahead of just Coruscation.

Cool Trade was icing on the cake for Mathews who won earlier with honest mare The Other Harv in the opener.

The Other Harv finished too strongly for Operational with the Adam Durrant-trained $2.50 favourite Peck finishing third.

Durrant missed out with Peck but bounced back to claim a double when My Bonny Lad and Tower Of Lonhro saluted.

My Bonny Lad held out the fast-finishing Black Magic Miss to score by a long-neck with Willow Bridge close behind in third.

“Credit to the horse who has had his issues but lifts when required,” said Durrant.

“He could probably with a summer carnival contender if he was sound.

“But unfortunately he is not and this is where we are at.

“He has another win or two in him.”

Tower Of Lonhro staved off a Broome campaign when he thundered home from last in the Skyy Vodka Handicap (1400m).

“If he didn’t produce he wasn’t far from going on the truck to Broome,” said Durrant.

Durrant liked the look of the five-year-old and bought him from Jason Warren when he was in Melbourne last year.

Tower Of Lohnro won his sixth race from 18 starts and first since scoring first-up over 1300m at Broome last year.

Eric Wake says there is still plenty of upside in Cuanzo who remains undefeated after a runaway win in the Westspeed Nursery (1400m).

The Oratorio gelding dominated proceedings from the outset and held that front-running position throughout, scoring by 1 ½ lengths.

Punters had rallied to Woken all week and the Lindsey Smith-trained gelding responded by leading from start-to-finish in race six.

There wasn’t much left in the tank but courtesy of a well rated ride by Ellie Cockram he hung on grimly to defeat The Cavalieri.

Joe Miller said Blackfriars gelding Drive West was a percentage horse and if the race is not run to suit he battles.

The gelding won the struggle in the Westspeed Stayers Bonus Handicap (2200m), courtesy of a smart ride from Mitchell Pateman.

The apprentice jockey took the short route home when he saved every inch of ground along the inside fence.

Brad Parnham jumped Pure Adrenalin out quickly from his wide barrier and sat outside the leader Park Lane in the Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap (1000m).

Pure Adrenalin applied the pressure on Park Lane and gained the upper hand over the final stages, kicking away to win by 2 ½ lengths.

“Last time out over 1200m we tried to settle him but he was disappointing and didn’t finish off,” said trainer Neville Parnham.

“We went back to his old pattern of racing and fired him out of the gates and when he sat outside of the leader I thought he was in the race.”
