Trainer John Moore put a further gap on his main rival John Size in the Hong Kong trainer’s premiership after leading home four winners at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Moore is shooting for his seventh premiership victory and the trainer of local superstar Able Friend is confident he’ll get the job done.
“I still expect another two or three winners which would mean that John Size would have to win half the races left in the season,” Moore told the South China Morning Post.
“Still, until I am six ahead with five to go, or three ahead with two to go I won’t be celebrating. I won’t count my chickens because John has a lot of nice horses saved for that final day.”
Moore sits on 67 winners for the 2014/15 racing season, six wins ahead of Size with only two meeting (20 races) left to be run.
Casper Fownes has trained 58 winners for the season so mathematically at least, still has an outside chance to make a late rally.
Joao Moreira has set a new riding record of 139 wins to ensure himself the 2014/15 Hong Kong Jockeys’ Premiership.
The final two meetings of the season will be run at Happy Valley on Wednesday July 8 and Sha Tin on Sunday July 12.
