Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s Chairman, Jeff Ovens, has welcomed the appointment of Michael Heath to the RWWA Board.
Mr Heath will commence his role at the upcoming November Board meeting and replaces the outgoing Prof. John Yovich who has been operating as RWWA’s General Manager Racing since June.
Mr Heath has vast experience and knowledge in the areas of corporate governance, business development and strategic management as the current Chief Executive Officer at St. Ives Group. The organisation is a leading provider of high quality retirement villages and residential aged care centres in WA employing 900 permanent and casual staff.
Mr Heath has previous experience in the racing industry serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Perth Racing for two years. Prior to that he spent sixteen years in various roles including Executive General Manager at RAC WA.
As a current racing owner he currently sits on the board of the WA Racehorse Owners Association. Mr Heath also presides as a Board member for the Curtin University Advisory Board and Sacred Heart College.
“Michael brings a broad skill set to the RWWA board and has thorough knowledge of the WA racing and wagering landscape”, Mr Ovens said.
“The Board welcome Michael’s appointment and look forward to his ongoing contributions to the industry” he said.
Mr Heath was looking forward to the numerous challenges facing the racing and wagering businesses in WA.
