Highly experienced investigator Tony Walton has been appointed to help safeguard the rigorous standards of racing integrity in Western Australia.

Racing and Wagering Western Australia Chief Racing Integrity Officer Denis Borovica said Mr Walton, a long-serving WA police detective, was selected from a large number of quality applicants for the position.

“Tony’s impressive career includes almost 28 years of service with the Western Australia Police Force, where he gained the rank of Detective Sergeant,” Denis said.

“He has worked in various squads during his time as a police officer and overseen large taskforces and high-profile investigations.

“This background and level of experience supports our commitment to maintaining high levels of confidence in WA racing and the highest standards of integrity.”

Tony takes up his new role on Monday, 5 September 2022, and will be attending race meetings and assisting preparations for the enhanced integrity measures to be applied in upcoming racing carnivals.

Mr Walton’s appointment follows the recent retirement of Senior Investigator Geoff Johnson.
