The fight for second position in the Perth Jockey’s premiership is still no clearer after Jarrad Noske and Brad Parnham scored respective wins at Belmont on Saturday.
Noske advanced to 43 city wins and stretched two clear of Parnham after saluting on Salubrious in race one, but Parnham came back hard courtesy of his sublime ride on Variation in the Aquanita Stakes.
Parnham won deserved plaudits on Variation and replicated his Belmont Guineas ride a fortnight earlier when he landed the gun three-year-old in the perfect spot after crossing from a wide barrier.
William Pike suffered a rare miss at Belmont Park, failing to land a winner, but the champion rider, who posted an international double at Singapore on Sunday, is on track for his ninth premiership title.
Fontainebleau gave Grant Williams his second Belmont Oaks success and first with co-trainer and partner, Alana Williams. The husband and wife team will celebrate their first Perth training title at the end of the month.
Similar to the jockey award, second prize in the trainer’s premiership remains up for grabs with one win separating Simon Miller and Jason Miller and Geoff Durrant.
