Perth Racing, Singapore Turf Club and SKY have just signed a tripartite agreement to trial the exporting of mid-week races from Belmont Park and Ascot to Kranji Racecourse and Off Course Betting Shops in Singapore for six months.

The agreement galvanizes the relationship between Singapore Turf Club and Perth Racing and recognizes the association which first began in 2004 when Perth Racing became the first Australian race club to export into Singapore.

“This has been a long time coming.” Perth Racing Chairman Mr Ted van Heemst said. “A lot of hard work has gone into making this six month trial period, finally come to fruition.”

“The Singapore Turf Club has recognized that there is a strong following of Perth Racing in Singapore and it is a natural progression to be able to wager on mid-week races as well as Saturdays.”

“Perth Racing has always been proud of the fact that it exports more races to Singapore than any other jurisdiction in Australia and this agreement increases that quota.” Mr van Heemst said.

Wednesday July 2 will be the first meeting to be exported from Belmont Park mid-weeks into Singapore and Perth Racing CEO Stephen Wicks was excited about the trial period’s timing.

“Hong Kong Jockey Club will go into recess on July 6 and both Perth Racing and the Singapore Turf Club are confident that the extra meetings from Belmont Park will provide appeal for the local punters in Hong Kong’s absence.” Stephen Wicks said.

“The STC has worked tirelessly on this project as has the staff at Perth Racing and with the assistance of SKY, we are looking forward to delivering our excellent mid-week product into Singapore.”
