Perth’s Trainers’ Premiership Hots Up


Top billing in Perth’s trainers’ premiership intensified with Grant and Alana Williams drawing level with Adam Durrant.

The Williams combination clawed their way back to share the lead after Stare Prosecutor and Tellem We’re Comin landied pivotal wins.

State Prosecutor gave the Williams stable their first success in the Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) when he stormed home from last.

Tellem We’re Comin, unplaced in the WA Derby (2400m), indicated a top campaign was in store with a top first-up display.

With 10 meetings of the 2017-18 season remaining, the Williams camp are out to defend their first trainers’ title from last year.

Durrant, who took a year off last season, is searching to reclaim bragging rights as Perth’s leading horseman for the 7th time.

Durrant was Perth’s leading trainer in 2009-2010 and again in 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.

Neville Parnham celebrated an interstate double when Malibu Style won at Flemington and War God took out the Bolton Sprint.

War God gave Parnham his 50th winner for the season, 36 in the city and 14 at provincial level.
