Leading jockey William Pike has sounded an ominous warning to east coast rivals, labelling the trials of star duo Arcadia Queen and Regal Power as “fantastic” at Lark Hill this morning.

Arcadia Queen won her trial over 950m in a time of 56.80, while Regal Power also won his trial over 1450m later in the morning.

The pair were meant to trial last Monday, but Perth’s COVID shutdown meant they had to wait until today.

Pike, who will head to Melbourne later this week, said both horses impressed ahead of their likely first Melbourne starts Saturday week.

“It feels nice to get on some top-quality horses like that again,” he told The Races WA.

“You can feel the energy they have and the feel they give you wakes you up a bit.

“I thought they did it very well and did everything that they had to do.”

Arcadia Queen is set to return to Melbourne with the reputation of being one of the best horses in the country.

She took out the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) in September and the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The Pierro mare hit the line well in her trial and showed she was on track for the All Star Mile at Moonee Valley, where she sits second in voting.
