The Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) Off The Track program has kicked off to a successful start by committing to sponsor the Off The Track WA Series.

This Off The Track WA Series class is exclusive to retired Thoroughbred racehorses and culminates in a final at the end of the year.

There are a number of qualifiers being held throughout the year at Perth metro, regional & country Agricultural Shows. Competitors are encouraged to compete in one of these qualifiers to gain entry to the final.

Horses must have competed in an official barrier trial or started in a race locally, nationally or internationally to be eligible to enter this series.

The winner of the Off The Track WA Series final will receive a garland, embroidered woollen rug and $1000 cash prize, proudly sponsored by RWWA’s Off The Track program.

Both RWWA and the organisers of the Off The Track (OTT) WA Series would like to congratulate Kellie Paterson and her beautiful mare Dr Willow Anne on winning the first OTT WA Series Qualifier and Cassie Price and Cielo De Fuego who were runner up and also qualified to compete in the final.

Competitors included Eternally Lucky, Capuchin, American Land, Pivotal Direction, Red Hot Prince, De Train and Light The Skies.

Dr Willow Anne is an 8 year old mare by the very popular Dr Johnson, who has produced many lovely show horses.

Miss DJ, as she is known to her family, was trained by Fred Kersley.

Miss DJ commenced her show career as a saddle horse in 2011 under her new registered name of Vanity Fair.

In 2012 she won both Show Horse Council and EWA Newcomers (best new season show horse).

In 2012 she was ‘Smartest On Parade’ at the Equestrian Australia Horse of the Year competition and has been in the top ten at the 2012 & 2013 Equestrian Australia & Show Horse Council Horse of the Year competitions.

Miss DJ has excelled in her short show career and has already given Kellie more rewards than she ever thought possible.

RWWA are thrilled to be sponsoring this fantastic series and wish all competitors the best of luck hoping to see them at the final in September.
