RWWA Stewards, Club Officials and representatives of the Western Australian Jockeys’ Association yesterday conducted an inspection of the York racetrack surface, including 21 horses galloping on the track. Significant remedial works have been conducted on the track during the period racing has been in recess at the venue.

The track surface was found to be in excellent condition and approval was granted for the Club to resume racing.

It was noted that the Club is currently awaiting statutory certification for the new industry and public facilities which have been constructed at the venue. Given this situation, RWWA felt it prudent that the re-opening of York be postponed by a further week. This will ensure the relevant certifications are secured prior to entries being taken for the opening meeting and remove any risk of Trainers nominating and it later determined that the race meeting is unable to proceed. The opening meeting at York will now be run on Friday, 27 March 2015.

The Narrogin race meeting originally scheduled on 27 March will be re-scheduled to a new date. RWWA and York Racing sincerely thank Narrogin Racing for their co-operation in achieving this outcome. The York Cup meeting is scheduled for Easter Monday, 6 April 2015 and it is imperative the Club is able to conduct a soft opening of the new facilities prior to their major meeting.
