Racing and Wagering Western Australian (RWWA) has announced 30 nominees for possible induction into the Western Australian Racing Hall of Fame (WARHOF).

WARHOF honours champions from across the thoroughbred, harness racing and greyhound codes and inductees will be welcomed into the Hall of Fame at a gala ceremony at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, November 15.

“This is the fourth WARHOF induction and when you appreciate the size of the industry and the breadth of code contribution we are recognising, narrowing down the nominees is a very challenging process,” said RWWA General Manager Racing, Ken Norquay.

The 2014 Thoroughbred nominees include:

  • Horses – Ngawyni, Nicopolis, Raconteur and Scenic Blast.
  • Jockeys – Paul Harvey and R G (Bobby) Morley.
  • Trainers – Albert Jordan and Neville Parnham.
  • Associates – Albert E Cockram, Sheila Gwynne, Sir Ernest Lee Steere (Snr) and Max Simmonds.

Neville Parnham, who has won 12 Perth Trainer Premierships and is recognised as one of the state’s most accomplished horseman, was delighted by his nomination.

“It’s an honour to be nominated and I’m excited by the recognition,” said Parnham.

“It’s quite an achievement to be recognised when you consider the great trainers WA has produced over the last century.”

With 43 champions and associates currently inducted into the WARHOF, the 2014 inductees will be joining elite and much revered company on induction evening.
