Thoroughbred – Stewards’ Inquiry – Licensed Trainer Ms Kellie Kersley – Ascot Racecourse Trackwork on Tuesday, 17 March 2015.
RWWA Stewards have finalised their deliberations in regard to penalty following Trainer Ms Kellie Kersley being found guilty to a charge under AR.81A(1)(b) for failing to provide a urine sample when directed at Ascot Trackwork on Tuesday, 17 March 2015.
Ms Kersley subsequently had her trainer’s licence suspended in full for a period of six (6) months with the penalty being backdated from 17 March 2015 being the date her licence was initially suspended under the provisions of LR.10(d) pending the outcome of the inquiry.
In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the following factors
The seriousness of the offence
The particular circumstances related to the offence
Ms Kersley’s record which showed no previous offences of a similar nature over a long period of time as a licensed person in both the thoroughbred and harness codes
Her personal circumstances
Further, Ms Kersley was advised that Stewards would give consideration to a remission of the penalty after a period of five (5) months on the condition that she provides a number of urine samples on a random basis that are free of any banned substan
