Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is delighted to announce that former champion Australian and international sprinter, Scenic Blast, will be joining the Off the Track orogram

Off The Track was recently established by Racing and Wagering Western Australia to promote Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds in retirement and to secure a horse of Scenic Blast’s reputation as an ambassador for this program is a tremendous honour.

Scenic Blast, previously trained by Dan Morton and raced by prominent owners, Elio and Jackie Galante, raced on 31 occasions for eight wins and 12 placings.

The son of Scenic’s major highlights included the Newmarket Handicap, the Lightning Stakes and the King Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2009.

He was named the 2008-09 Australian Horse of the Year and retired in 2012 with $2, 122,046 in stake earnings.

Sharon Joyce, Off the Track’s Equine Welfare Officer, said being offered Scenic Blast was a humbling experience.

“Dan phoned and enquired about the program, hoping we could assist him to find Scenic Blast a suitable home,” said Joyce.

“We suggested he could be the ambassador for Off the Track, and Dan was so pleased that this horse could promote second careers for other racehorses post racing.

“I am thrilled that Dan and the owners have the faith and trust in me to look after such a precious horse and I’m excited about what the future holds for both Scenic Blast and Off the Track.

“I cannot think of a better ambassador for Off the Track and he will be an attendee at various race meetings and equestrian events across the state to promote retired racehorses”.
