Emerging young rider Emma Stent is the Western Australian Racing Trainers’ Association Apprentice of the month (May).
Stent, indentured to top Muchea trainer Alan Mathews, has ridden 29 winners this season including 17 at Kalgoorlie.
The 19-year-old has dominated goldfields racing and enjoys a nine win buffer over her nearest rival Natasha Faithfull in the jockey’s premiership.
Stent’s Kalgoorlie tally includes one treble and four doubles but it was her effort at the April 12 meeting that boosted her profile.
Stent had a day that jockeys can only dream about when she rode five of the seven winners on the programme.
Stent, who competed in eventing as a junior, commenced her career on the North-West country racing circuit last year.
