Champion trainer Chris Waller will add a promising Perth stayer to his big team in Sydney.
Dual stakes placegetter Criminal Code will continue his career under Waller’s guidance.
The Maschino gelding won on debut at Ascot last November and placed on three further occasions from his six starts for trainer Tiarnna Robertson.
The three-year-old ran consecutive thirds to Red Hot Tip in the Listed Melvista Stakes (2200m) and Tuscan Queen in the Group 2 WA Derby (2400m).
Part-owner Sophie Beesley said the shift to Waller was to maximise racing opportunities for Criminal Code.
“After discussion with Tiarnna and on her recommendation Criminal Code will go to Chris Waller,” Beesley said.
“We can’t thank Tiarnna enough in how she has managed Criminal Code’s early career and her selfless attitude.
“She believes there will be a lot more suitable races and more options open to the horse if we take him east.
“She says he has the right work ethic, the right attitude, the right potential and in Sydney and Melbourne there is more prize money.
“There is so much more improvement to come and Chris was very interested and keen for him to come across.
“All the group of owners are excited by what the future holds for him and again can’t thank Tiarnna in managing him to this point.”
Criminal Code will depart Perth next week.
