The Chairman of Perth Racing (The Western Australian Turf Club – WATC) Mr Ted van Heemst, today announced the resignation of Vice Chairman, Mr Edward G Rigg due to personal reasons.

Mr Rigg, an avid racegoer and successful horse owner / breeder was elected to the Committee in October 2012 and was appointed Vice Chairman in October 2014.

Mr van Heemst paid tribute to Mr Rigg who’d brought distinctive skills, desire and experience to Perth Racing as it continues to grow its race day attendance, membership, wagering revenue and the early planning of the Belmont Park redevelopment.

“We are very grateful for his passion, contribution and continued support to Perth Racing and the racing industry,’’ Mr van Heemst said.

“My Committee and I wish to thank Eddie for all his hard work and acknowledge his pivotal role with the recent Deloitte 2020 Strategy – a renewed direction and focus for Perth Racing,” and we look forward to seeing him and his family at the track for many years to come.

Perth Racing is embarking on an exciting phase of growth with the redevelopment of Belmont Park scheduled for completion mid 2017 and is looking forward to making several announcements over the coming months dedicated to providing an enhanced raceday experience to Members, Stakeholders and the General Public.
