Kate Witten has won The Western Australian Racing Trainer’s Association’s Encouragement award for January.
Witten, indentured to her father, Robbie, recently returned to the saddle after seriously injury her knee at track work.
The budding apprentice missed close to a year of her career before making a successful comeback at Esperance on Boxing Day.
She scored a runaway victory on the David Harrison-trained The Conjurer, leading from barrier to post by 7 ½ lengths.
A week later on her home track at Bunbury she lifted The Dankster, prepared by Tom Widdeson, to a narrow victory.
Witten is receiving her due rewards after working tirelessly and displaying dedication throughout her recovery period.
