The race for Albany’s Leading Trainer will go right to the wire with Steve Wolfe and Paul Hunter locked in an enthralling battle.
Wolfe, on 21 wins, has the upper hand to lead his major rival by one heading into the club’s season-ending meeting on Thursday.
The duo is well clear of their nearest opponent Gerry Hughes who can’t be overtaken for third position.
Wolfe and Hunter have both stacked the final meeting with strong winning chances in a bid to earn bragging rights.
The title could come down to the Cameron Newbold Mounting Yard Late Mail Handicap (1207m) in race five.
Wolfe will pin his faith with Ancient Spell, who is capable but needs a form reversal and I See Luck, a better performer than his last placing in the Fitzpatrick Plate would indicate.
Hunter as four runners entered including Du Printemps, Le Sacre, Talk Of Angels and Hot Goth who is chasing a hat trick of wins.
Talk Of Angels is a doubtful starter after fading to finish 9th of 10 to Mia China Doll over 1000m at Belmont on Saturday.
Wolfe’s other main chances appears to be with Harp Inn (Race 1), Alvares, Stompin (Race4), Hot Rumour, King Cubator and Sooky La La in the final event.
Hunter has Our Royal Demon knocking on the door of race two after three consecutive minor placings.
Stable mate Fair Troy has been in red-hot form and will chase a winning hat trick in the Farmers’ Gentle Handicap (1207m).
